All roles are nonpaying, non-Equity. The show is presented in partnership with the Vance County America 250 Committee as part of its year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
McGregor Hall and The Henderson Rec Players are committed to fostering a community of performers that is diverse both on and offstage. We are excited to welcome actors of any background, identity, ethnicity, stage ability, or physical ability to audition, particularly those among groups that have historically been excluded from the arts. There will be three performances of The Complete History of America (Abridged) at McGregor Hall
- Friday, August 27, 7:30pm
- Saturday, August 28, 7:30pm
- Sunday, August 29, 3:00pm
Rehearsals Begin July 20.
About Auditions
ALL ACTORS MUST REGISTER FOR AUDITIONS. You may audition in person (highly recommended) on either Saturday, April 11 at 10am or on Monday, April 13, at 7pm. Your audition will consist of cold reads from the show. Enter through the stage door at the top of the ramp at the corner of Wyche and West Winder Streets in Downtown Henderson. We will expedite auditions as much as possible, but plan to stay for up to three hours.
While in-person auditions are strongly encouraged, if you are unavailable for either of the audition dates, you are welcome to submit a video audition. Prepare a comedic monologue of no more than 2 minutes that showcases your talents that best align with the requirements of one of the roles in The Complete History of America (Abridged). Instructions for formatting and submitting your video will be provided in your confirmation email after you register for auditions.
A few actors may be called back for an additional audition on Thursday, April 16.
How to Register for Auditions
Log in to your existing (or create a new) McGregor Hall account at this link. Once logged in, choose "Events" from the blue menu bar at the top of the screen, then "New Registration." You'll see the Complete History of America (Abridged) option that will take you through the registration process.
